THIS WEEK IN GAMBLING

(OPEN)

Hello friends, we’ve got a lot of poker to talk about this week, including how poker legislation could affect the entire gaming industry. In just a few moments were going to be taking a look at what you can expect to see if you’re traveling to Las Vegas this month… but first, this week’s big story. Our friends at the American Gaming Association have started a full court press to try to get some sort of online poker legislation passed at a federal level during the current lame duck session of the U.S. Congress. The AGA is warning our congressmen that if they do not act quickly there will be an explosion of online gambling activity as more and more states moved to regulate the activity within their borders… but please see this for what it really is. I fully support the American Gaming Association, and there’s a lot of merit to what they’re saying. However, it is also in their best interest, and in the interest of big Vegas casinos, if federal rather than state legislation gets passed. However, since I am a fan of federal over state regulation as well, I say keep pushing him AGA! Keep scaring the hell out of those boys up on Capitol Hill!

This week the state gaming control Board in Nevada recommended Caesars Entertainment for an interactive gaming license. Geez, I guess they’ll just give anyone a license! I’m kidding of the course! This could be very big news for players, and not just the ones living in Nevada. Caesars would love nothing more than to get their World Series of Poker brand online as quickly as possible. They got their sights set on more than just the state… they’re looking down the road at the possibility of U.S. Federal regulation and eventually moving into Europe.
