Hundreds of Perth seniors are devotees of the Crown bus operating from all corners of the city bringing them into the recently revamped casino. It is a marketing strategy under the spotlight as Crown applies for more electronic gaming machines. For $10 passengers get a fun pack including a buffet lunch and gambling temptations. The Crown Bus conveniently shares bus stops with Trans Perth. Ian Carter, Anglicare WA says there is probably 5 to 10% of the bus users who lead lonely lives and lose lots of money. Crown plan to introduce 500 extra machines and spend nearly $570m building a 6 star hotel. Terry Waldron, WA Racing and Gaming Minister says they are not true poker machines. Crown Perth wouldn’t be interviewed by 7.30 WA. In a statement a spokesperson said they are busy with their various venue openings. Tony Pietropiccolo, Centrecare says they have seen around 10 new clients a week over the last year. Crown Casino has set up a responsible gambling team to identify at risk gamblers. According to the latest figures nearly $90m of the $503m gaming revenue earned by the casino went to the WA Govt as tax. ClubsWA is pushing for clubs to be allowed to host the electronic game Keno. The independent body Gaming and Wagering Commission will make the final decision on Crown’s proposal.
